Gangubai Kathiawadi song Meri Jaan: Alia Bhatt-Shantanu Maheshwari showcase their passionate relationship in this peppy track

The latest song from Gangubai Kathiawadi is out and is titled Meri Jaan. The track is picturised with the lead actors Alia Bhatt and Shantanu Maheshwari. It showcases their passionate and naughty relationship. What makes this song even more impressive is the way Bhansali has crafted his vision to visualise a complete song sequence within a car, with all the best feelings represented.

Bhansali composed the soundtrack, which was sung by Neeti Mohan and written by Kumaar. The uncomplicated affection between Alia and Shantanu's characters is encapsulated in this gorgeous passage shot solely in a vintage car.

Meri Jaan screams about consensual relationship and how it's important. The sequence is well-portrayed by Alia, and Shantanu has also delivered his best in this two-minute-44-second-long song.

Earlier, while talking about Gangubai Kathiawadi's album, Bhansali said in a statement that music has always been a huge part of his life. He was lucky enough to grow up in a period when great musicians such as Lataji, Bagum Akhtar, Jagjit Singh, and Rafi Saab influenced his musical understanding. It wasn't just the singers who influenced his love of music; it was also the great Hindi film music directors of the 1950s and 1960s who were his greatest inspiration.

The filmmaker added that, as a composer, he has had the pleasure of working with musicians such as Shreya Ghoshal, Arijit Singh, and Neeti Mohan, who lift the composition to new heights. He is delighted to announce two new singers, Janhvi Shrimankar (Dholida) and Archana Gore, to Gangubai (Jhume Re Gori, Shiqayat). Bhansali thanked the lyricists A.M. Turaz and Kumar Ji, as well as the arrangers Shail Hada (Dholida, Jab Saiyan, Jhume Re Gori, Shiqayat), Jacky Vanjari (Meri Jaan), and Raja Pandit for their contributions (Muskurahat).

This is also his first collaboration with Saregama, and it's been a pleasure for Bhansali to work with a company with such a long and illustrious history in Indian cinema and music.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is slated for release on February 25, 2022.
