Gangubai Kathiawadi: Here's what Alia Bhatt has to say about the recent controversies over the film

Since its trailer was published, Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi has been mired in controversy after controversy. On Tuesday, Congress MLA Amin Patel filed a plea in the Bombay High Court to have the film's name changed, claiming that it misrepresents Kamathipura as a red-light district while portraying the Kathiawadi group in a negative manner. Kangana Ranaut had previously criticized a viral video of a young girl copying Alia's character from Gangubai Kathiawadi stating that "many children are being sexualized today."

In a recent interview with ANI, Alia talked about how she handles such problems. The actor said that she is not bothered by any controversy or opinion. Nothing irritates her beyond a certain point. Of course, she believes that even a small bit of a film can hold a certain novelty. Whether the film is good or poor, it doesn't matter to her. After watching the film, the audience makes the final judgement, and anything that occurs before or after the event has no bearing on the outcome. Alia said this when promoting her film in the capital.

Earlier, while talking about the box office pressure, the actor said that it is unavoidable. She prefers not to worry about the pressure when she is making the film because she believes it will interfere with her creative process. Perhaps she will try to play to the audience. However, this isn't true to the character.

Gangubai Kathiawadi directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is about a maiden who is sold into prostitution by a suitor and how she rises to become a prominent and celebrated figure.

The film also features Ajay Devgn, Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa, and Shantanu Maheshwari in pivotal roles.

On February 25, the film will be released in theatres. At the Berlin Film Festival, Gangubai Kathiawadi made its international premiere.
