One of the most well-liked movies in Hindi cinema is the Anurag Kashyap-directed film.
One of Nawazuddin Siddiqui's exes reportedly informed him he needed to ask permission to touch her before doing so. Huma Qureshi and the actor reprised the incident in the now-iconic moment from Gangs of Wasseypur directed by Anurag Kashyap. In the film, Nawazuddin portrayed Faisal Khan, the son of gangster Sardar Khan. In the movie that came out in 2012, Huma played the leading lady opposite him.
Nawazuddin told Mashable India that Anurag had based the film on a true event about one of his girlfriends. He was in a relationship. The actor proposed that they go to a park, and she agreed. There wasn't anyone else nearby, so he reached out and touched her hand. She inquired, "What is this?" and the actor responded that it's his hand. Nawazuddin's then-girlfriend argued that it was against the law. The moment she mentioned the word "illegal," his mind raced to images of arrests and legal proceedings, and he immediately panicked.
When asked what she meant by "illegal," she then replied that he should have asked her permission before placing his hand on hers, and he agreed with her. She further said that tomorrow he will feel like he can touch her everywhere. The actor explained to her that that wasn't the point. Then she taught him the proper etiquette for visiting someone's home: one knocks before entering. One such day, Anurag recalled a tale he had told during one of their workshops.
According to Nawazuddin, after Anurag instructed Huma and him to sit by a lake, the entire sequence was shot in a single take. The crime drama was an early success for Nawazuddin, helping to bring him widespread recognition. He owes a great deal of his fame to that scene.
Gangs of Wasseypur which was released in two parts, went on to become one of the biggest hits in Hindi cinema.
