Golden Star Ganesh’s first release for the year was Baanadariyalli, his latest collaboration with friend and filmmaker Preetham Gubbi. In theatres on September 28, after mult iple delays, the film, based on a story by cinematographer Preetha Jayaraman did not get great reviews, although the actor’s acting was widely appreciated. Distributed by KRG Studios, Baanadariyalli still has a few shows in theatres, mainly at multiplexes. Today, on the occasion of National Cinema Day, the film is playing at Rs 99 only, as a result of which most shows are going houseful. Buoyed by this, the makers have decided to extend this offer to audiences for the next four days, albeit at a slightly higher price. Starting October 14 Baanadariyalli tickets will be Rs 112 only till October 18.
Baanadariyalli review: Ganesh’s story about love is a lot of fluff and little substance

Baanadariyalli, which was described as not a love story, but a story about love, has Ganesh as an aspiring cricketer and entrepreneur called Sid/Siddharth, who falls in love with swimmer and environmentalist Leela (Rukmini Vasanth). But then, when tragedy strikes their relationship, Sid has to go on a journey-of-a-lifetime to Kenya. In press interactions about the film, Ganesh had said that the Kenya portions are the soul of Baanadariyalli. The film also stars Rangayana Raghu and Reeshma Nanaiah in pivotal roles and has music by Arjun Janya. The film’s major highlight is its tribute to the late Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar, given that the title itself is from one of his hit songs.

Baanadariyalli was initially meant to release for Christmas 2022, but was then pushed to March 2023. Subsequently, there was no word about its release for a long time, which was attributed to the team’s inability to finalize post-theatrical rights, including satellite and digital. In fact, at the time of its eventual release in September, there was no word on the OTT or TV partner of the film.
