Golden Star Ganesh reunites with director Preetham Gubbi for the third time on Baanadariyali, which is set to release in theatres on September 28
Actor Ganesh and his long-time pal and collaborator Preetham Gubbi did a film that was meant to close out 2022 on a sweet note for them – Baanadariyalli, a love story that pairs the Golden Star with Rukmini Vasanth and Reeshma Nanaiah, both relative newcomers at the time. But the film didn’t make it to theatres then and was subsequently pushed around several times, till it finally became a September 28 release, making it the 100th film to be distributed by KRG Studios.
Now, as Baanadariyalli is ready for its date with audiences, there is an increased excitement around the project, not only because of Ganesh and Preetham, but the leading ladies too, especially Rukmini Vasanth, who is the flavour of the season after the success of her recent release, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello. In the film, which is based on a story by cinematographer Preetha Jayaraman, which Preetham wrote the screenplay for, Ganesh plays a cricketer, a sport that he is quite passionate about.
The trailer of the film, which had Ganesh and Rukmini as a much-in-love couple, describes how difficult it is to live without a loved one around, hinting at a probable tragic ending for them. It also had audiences wondering if they were watching a National Geographic documentary, because much of the visuals were of Ganesh in the African wilds. This, he says, was an intentional approach, because the reason behind his character heading to Kenya is the soul of the film. The idea, he added in a recent interview was to tell audiences that this team was looking at telling them a very different and unique story.
Up next, the actor, who was last seen in Triple Riding, is collaborating with Dandupalya maker Srinivasa Raju, on a film called Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi, in which he is paired with Malavika Nair, who will make her Kannada film debut.
