After the success of the Scam 1992, Hansal Mehta reunite with Pratik Gandhi to bring to life the epic saga, Gandhi.
National award winner Hansal Mehta is currently occupied with his upcoming show, Gandhi. The filmmaker has commenced the shoot of the show which is based on two books by historian and author Ramachandra Guha - Gandhi before India and Gandhi: The Years that Changed the World. The filmmaker is reuniting with Pratik Gandhi for the third time after Scam 1992 and Baai.
Sharing the filming details of the show, a source was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times, "They are shooting at Bhor now, Maharashtra right now. After completing the schedule in India, they will be shooting in London for the next one."
The source further reveals, "The shoot in London was of utmost importance to capture the moments where he gained his experience of the world outside India and completed his education properly. It was a major chunk of the script." About the release date of the show, reports suggest that the show will be released around mid-next year on a mainstream OTT platform.
Further, the source revealed that Addinath has also joined the team for an important part besides Pratik Gandhi playing the lead as Mahatma Gandhi. However, the names of other cast members of the show are still under wraps.
The show is set in the period of the Indian Independence struggle and is produced by Applause Entertainment. Earlier, while speaking about the film, Hansal Mehta said, "When you speak of a historic and iconic figure like Mahatma Gandhi, there is already a great deal of responsibility on you as a filmmaker."
Speaking about how they plan to mold the series to portray the story as true as possible, the director said, "Our vision with the series is to make it as true-to-life as possible and supported by Ramachandra Guha’s work, we are confident and enthusiastic that we will bring audiences something to remember. With a common vision for this ambitious narrative, I am excited to kickstart a new journey, yet again with Sameer and the team at Applause."
