Sandeep Madhav, who shot to fame with films like Vangaveeti and George Reddy, was recently seen in the patriotic drama Gandharwa this year. Directed by first-time filmmaker Apsar, the film also featuring Gayathri R Suresh hit theatres on July 8. Sai Kumar, Suresh Babu, Babu Mohan, Posani Krishna Murali, Sammeta Gandhi, Temper Vamsi, Surya, Paul and Jayaram played important roles in the film produced under Funny Fox Entertainments.
After its theatrical release, Gandharwa premiered on the streaming giant Amazon Prime Video recently and has been garnering acclaim from OTT-enthusiasts and movie buffs. The story revolves around the idea of anti-ageing. In Gandharwa, the protagonist is stuck in an oxygen chamber and realises 50 years have passed since he batted an eyelid, though his age doesn't change. His wife is now a 70-year-old and the son has touched 50. What connects anti-ageing to the tale around oxygen chamber?
Gandharwa is about a battle between a young father and a 50-year-old son and how they make the world understand the truth behind the incident. The film's unique premise has caught the eyeballs of many. Buoyed by the response for the film in theatres and on OTT, the team plans to release Gandharwa in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada shortly. In addition, the director Apsar has also commenced work on a new film to be bankrolled by a major production house.
With cinematography by Jawahar Reddy and music by Rap Rock Shakeel, Gandharwa was edited by Basava Paidi Reddy. Murthy Kaga was the art director. Journalist, actor Suresh Kondeti distributed the film across Telugu states at the time of its release.
