Game Of Thrones spin off A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight has been in the making for a while now.
A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Wraps Up
The world of Game of Thrones has been cooking up a storm for a while as the makers have been working on multiple spin-offs set before the events of the original HBO show that ran from 2011 to 2019. Recently, House of the Dragon season 2 wrapped up its eight-episode run, and the makers promised to return with the third season by 2026. But to fill the void between the two, there’s a new show set a century before the events of Game of Thrones that will be releasing in 2025. We are indeed talking about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight and it turns out the team has now wrapped up filming, according to new updates.
For the uninitiated, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is about the newly minted knight Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey), who, as per reports in the first season, will be seen entering the tournament at Ashford Meadow in the Reach. It is here where he will meet his squire, Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell). The show is based on George R.R. Martin's celebrated work titled Dunk & Egg. Production on the show, according to a new report, has now wrapped up. Read on for more.
Filming for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight started in June this year when the makers shared the first look. The team shot for three months and, according to Winter Is Coming has wrapped up filming. The report says this show isn’t as grand as the last two based on Westeros' history. This one is more focused on a single story that isn’t as elaborate as Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon.
The Hedge Knight will reportedly consist of six episodes, with each episode running shorter than the standard runtime of GOT or House of the Dragon. Set primarily in a single location, the show will feature no wars, and no dragons are involved during this period in Westeros. As for the release window, the show is slated for a 2025 release, but given the swift production, we might expect it in mid-2025 or by the end of the first half of the year.
HBO's official website describes the show as an upcoming spin-off to their hit Game of Thrones franchise. It is set a century before the events of Game of Thrones. The official synopsis reads:
“A century before the events of Game of Thrones there was Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg. Executive produced by George R. R. Martin, Ira Parker, Ryan Condal, and Vince Gerardis, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight has received a straight-to-series order.”
The buzz surrounding the show has caught the attention of fans, helping fill the void between seasons two and three of House of the Dragon. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more updates on this and everything else from the world of streaming and film.
