While House of Dragons is in production, the fate of the rest of the prequels is on hold,
Prequel of fantasy series Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones (GOT) achieved monumental success among viewers. A fantasy series, it broke every TV record, imprinting itself in the history of pop-culture forever. Therefore, it is natural that anything related to GOT gets quite the hype and the spin-offs and prequels are no exception.

These projects have already started amassing fans of their own and have been generating quite a buzz among the audience. However, not all of them have been greenlit so far.
In a recent press conference at the Warner Media Headquarters in NYC, HBO chief Casey Bloys clarified the status of these upcoming shows. Stressing how anything related to GOT becomes news, and thus any new idea being pitched is assumed to be in production, but that’s not the case. Of all the projects making headlines, only the House of Dragons has been greenlit and is in production. The rest of them are still at an early stage and are in development.
Co-created by Martin and Condal, House of the Dragon stars Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, Paddy Considine, Fabien Frankel, Eve Best and Sonoya Mizuno. Without divulging any information, Bloys revealed that the much-awaited show is scheduled to be released in 2022.
