Other directors honored with Lifetime Achievement Award
David Nutter joins the prestigious group of only five other directors – James Burrows, Robert Butler, Joe Pytka, Don Mischer and Robert A. Fishman – to receive the DGA's Lifetime Achievement Award, cementing his place among the industry's most influential figures.
For David Nutter, 2015 was a year of triumph! His masterful direction of Mother's Mercy, the Season 5 finale of Game of Thrones, earned him the coveted Directors Guild of America Award (DGA) for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series category. This victory capped a remarkable journey of recognition, as he previously received six DGA nominations for his work on shows like The Sopranos, Entourage, and The Pacific. Nutter's ability to captivate audiences with his storytelling and bring complex characters to life, has cemented his place as one of television's most respected directors.
DGA has always been my foundation, says David Nutter
"The DGA has always been my foundation, my shining light, my bulwark against the impediments that so often crop up in this industry," David Nutter said. Sharing his excitement with Variety, Nutter said, "This is really a career pinnacle of sorts for me and validates what I have been doing to such a tremendous degree. Combined with the great support of my family, and my friends, and my fellow crew members and creatives, I can’t think of anything more gratifying than to receive this commendation."
