After actor and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap came down heavily on the Hindi film industry and criticised director Shankar's style of filmmaking and catering to the reel culture, the Game Changer filmmaker responded to clarify that the Hindi filmmaker has misunderstood his statement.

Director Shankar clarifies on Anurag Kashyap’s concerns with his filmmaking style

In a recent interview, actor and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap who openly dissed the Hindi film industry, also made comments on director Shankar's remarks about making films catering to today's times where social media is taking precedence. Anurag, in a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, referred to Shankar's statement made during Game Changer's pre-release event in Dallas where he said he has made the Ram Charan-starrer keeping the social media-tuned generation in mind as most audiences have reduced attention span.

Anurag Kashyap said he came across Shankar’s statement and said he does not know what he meant by that, and only after watching the film one can tell. Addressing this, Shankar clarified that he did not mean the Instagram reels and that all he meant was that things should be communicated effectively and quickly. The director also added that when they “fail” to do it, they “allow” the audience to get distracted. Shankar also expressed his “shock” at knowing Anurag had said it and said he was not aware.

Anurag Kashyap, who expressed his disappointment with the Hindi film industry, openly admitted that he is “disgusted” with the Hindi film industry and will be moving out of Mumbai to the south next year.

Anurag Kashyap said that he wants to go to a place where there is “stimulation” and that Hindi industry producers are looking only to remake the south films that are successful rather than trying anything new.

The director has appeared in several south films like Maharaja, Rifle Club, Viduthalai Part 2, and Leo.
