Game Changer has been produced by Dil Raju on a massive budget. The film has ended as a disappointment for the star producer as he is seeing massive losses for the Ram Charan starrer.
Dil Raju on Game Changer
Game Changer is Ram Charan's new film that has been in the making for the last three years. The Shankar-directed film finally hit the screens on January 10, 2025, in a record number of screens. Though it made big money on day one, negative word of mouth spread quickly, and the occupancy dropped drastically. As of now, Game Changer has made Rs 124 crore net and is almost done with its run. By the end of this week, it will be out of theaters.
Dil Raju is the producer of the film, and he has spent close to Rs 450 crore on it. As per the latest update, Dil Raju will lose close to Rs 100 crore with Game Changer. This is a massive amount and the highest-ever loss for a Dil Raju film.
Generally, he is a very calculative producer, but his plans did not work out as Game Changer was delayed time and again. The losses were supposed to be even higher if not for the OTT and other post-theatrical rights to the film. Dil Raju recovered a good amount from the OTT rights, as he sold them to Amazon Prime Video for a massive price.
Dil Raju, however, ended up in a safe zone with the other Sankranthi release, Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, which has already grossed Rs 200 crore at the box office. The Anil Ravipudi film is seeing double the profits and will surely reduce Dil Raju's burden when it comes to losses.
If this wasn’t enough, IT raids were conducted on Dil Raju and his family earlier today, and things are getting serious concerning his investments in films. Apart from Dil Raju, the Zee Group, which bought the north distribution rights, will also end up with massive losses.
Game Changer had a decent story and solid performance by Ram Charan, but the manner in which the film was narrated by Shankar in a very ordinary way did not help the film. Additionally, negative social media trends created by anti-fans did not help the film much at the box office.
With Game Changer, fans are quite upset that Shankar wasted Ram Charan's prime time of three years. Ram Charan did not do a single film while working on Game Changer. The news in film circles is that to bear the losses, Ram Charan has signed yet another film for Dil Raju and will take a pay cut from his fee. Though this news is not yet confirmed, it has gone viral.
On the other hand, Ram Charan is now working with Buchi Babu Sana of Uppena fame. The shooting of the film is happening currently, and Janhvi Kapoor is playing the female lead. The film has music by AR Rahman and Mythri Movie Makers, and the banner behind Pushpa is bankrolling the film. Stay tuned for more updates.
