Did you know that Sunny Deol made a fee concession for Gadar 2? Anil Sharma reveals details.
Sunny Deol will reprise his role as Tara Singh in the eagerly anticipated Gadar: Ek Prem Katha sequel. Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma will reprise their roles from the first film in the movie Gadar 2: Hindustan Zindabad, which will be released on August 11, 2023.
Did you know that Sunny Deol made a fee concession for Gadar 2? Anil Sharma, the film's director, claimed that Sunny Deol consented to considerably lower his rates in order to help with the budget. This information was provided by Anil Sharma in an interview with Lehren Retro1, where he also refuted allegations that the production of Gadar 2 cost between Rs 75 crore and Rs 100 crore. "Log market me 80, 100, 150 bolte hain. Aisa kuch nahi hai, usase kam hai," he said.

The director continued to say how Sunny also reduced his fees for the film. He said "That is just one person, we managed that. And, to tell you the truth, even he reduced his fees a lot. These days, the actors' and directors' fees are too high, shooting the budget of films to ₹500-600 crore. Out of those, ₹150 or ₹200 crore is the hero's share. What we thought was, to put the money in production."
The real budget for Gadar 2 was substantially lower than the estimates, according to Anil Sharma, who gave credit to the Indian Army and the state of Uttar Pradesh for their assistance in doing so. According to him, the Army gave him access to tanks, locations, and soldiers for the movie, and even let him blow up actual bridges. He also complimented the UP government for helping to make the film's filming in the state possible.
Gadar 2 is the sequel to the popular 2001 movie Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, which was about the partition of India and Pakistan. The movie was a great hit and brought in more money than its rival Lagaan at the box office. The story of Tara Singh, Sakeena, and their son Jeete will continue in Gadar 2 against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The movie will have competition from the August 11 release of OMG-2, which stars Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam and Pankaj Tripathi.
