Vidyadhar Kagita is directing the film that also features M G Abhinaya, Mohammad Samad, Dayanand Reddy, Harika Pedada and Ramya Pasupuleti in key roles
The young guns of Telugu cinema are making a conscious attempt to push the boundaries of storytelling and are exploring unchartered terrains. A solid proof of it is Gaami, the Vishwak Sen, Chandini Chowdary starrer, whose title was announced yesterday. The brief promo of the film directed by Vidyadhar Kaganti was nothing short of magical, be it the visual aesthetics or the mythical premise set in the vicinity of Varanasi. Vishwaksen, in what's certainly the most ambitious project in his career, is set to play an aghora in the film.
The glimpse into the film takes us to Varanasi, where Shankar, an aghora played by Vishwaksen, is asked to leave the monastery for the larger good of his counterparts. A disciple of his wonders what would Shankar be able to do in the real world with all his problems. A man presents a token that would reportedly provide the solution to Shankar's problem. The makers intentionally choose not to reveal the look of Vishwaksen in the promo. Gaami, cinematographed by Vishwanath Reddy, looks to have been shot on a wide canvas and promises to be a visual feast.
V Celluloid and Karthik Sabareesh are producing Gaami. MG Abhinaya, Mohammad Samad, Dayanand Reddy, Harika Pedada, Ramya Pasupuleti, Shanthi Rao, Mayank Parakh, John Kottoly, Bomma Sreedhar, Rajnish Sharma, and K R Unnikrishna have been cast in supporting roles. Vidyadhar Kagita and Pratyush Vatyam have penned the screenplay for the same and Raghavendra Thirun has been roped in as the editor of the film.
