After being noticed for her performance in the web series Grahan, followed by Mai: A Mother's Rage, Wamiqa Gabbi is receiving a lot of love for the short film Fursat, which is directed by Vishal Bharadwaj.

The actress has now shared that she went through extensive training in contemporary dance for the film.

Talking about her preparations for the film and why it was important to learn the dance form, Wamiqa said, "Dance is a language that Vishal sir used in this movie. We have mostly used contemporary dance steps and the brief I got was that irrespective of where you stand or what your position is, everyone should look like each other's mirror image. This meant that our timing had to be bang on."

Even though the actress is a trained Kathak dancer, she trained in contemporary dance for over two weeks and used all her free time in between shoots to practice.

She added, "I am just glad that all my hard work has paid off. While filming Fursat, I was shooting for another project, so I would fly to Mumbai on my days off to and rehearse with my dance teacher."

In the short film, Wamiqa has shared screen space with Ishaan Khattar, who is also a trained dancer.

The story of Fursat revolves around a man named Nishant, who can get a glimpse into the future with the help of an ancient relic called Doordarshak.

The 30-minute-long short film is shot on an iPhone 14, and has lyrics by Gulzar. The soundtrack is composed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The short film is available to stream on YouTube, and has been praised by Apple CEO Tim Cook.

Wamiqa will be next seen in Vishal Bhardwaj's Khufiya, along with Tabu and Ali Fazal.
