Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is now available to stream, offering a thrilling prequel to Fury Road.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga the post-apocalyptic action film, has made it to OTT just about a month after its theatrical release. The George Miller-directed feature, starring Anya Taylor-Joy in the titular role, is available to rent on Prime Video and BookMyShow Stream for Rs. 499. The full-fledged streaming release might not happen anytime soon.
It is a spin-off prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) and serves as the origin story for the Fury Road character Furiosa, who is also Alyla Browne in the prequel. This marks the first instalment in Miller's Mad Max franchise that does not revolve around the series protagonist, Max Rockatansky.
The film takes place fifteen to twenty years before Fury Road takes place, and it chronicles the life of the titular character for more than ten years, from her abduction by the armies of warlord Dementus (Christopher Hemsworth) to her rise to the position of Imperator. Also starring as Furiosa's buddy and military commander, Praetorian Jack, is Tom Burke.
As the world crumbled, a huge Biker Horde, led by Warlord Dementus, kidnapped little Furiosa from the Green Place of Many Mothers. They sweep across the Wasteland and find the Citadel, where Immortan Joe rules. Furiosa faces a multitude of challenges as she assembles the tools to return home while the two Tyrants battle for control.
A number of actors from Fury Road are back for cameo appearances, including Angus Sampson, John Howard, and Nathan Jones.
The 77th Cannes Film Festival was where the world premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga took place. Although critics gave the film a good review for its plot, action scenes, and acting, especially from Taylor-Joy and Hemsworth, the film bombed at the box office, earning only $171.4 million out of a $168 million budget.
