Kannada filmmaker Yogaraj Bhat’s last few films may not have worked at the box office, but there is a a fan following for his early directorials, especially Mungaru Male, Gaalipata, etc. Bhatru, as the filmmaker is affectionately referred to in Sandalwood circles, has his next direction venture, Manada Kadalu, starring newcomers Sumukha, Rashika Shetty and Anjali Anish in theatres on March 27, 2025.

Ranga SSLC

Kiccha Sudeep and Ramya were paired in this action comedy drama that was based on a story by Suri, who later debuted as filmmaker with Duniya. The soundtrack by Sandeep Chowta features two songs sung by Sudeep.

Mungaru Male

Yogaraj Bhat co-wrote Mungaru Male with Preetham Gubbi and gave Ganesh the big break he was looking for. The film was a mega box office blockbuster, becoming the first Kannada movie to have a year-long run at a multiplex. The soundtrack by Mano Murthy continues to be much loved. Yogaraj's next, Manada Kadalu, has him reuniting with Mungaru Male producer E Krishnappa.

Gaalipata

Ganesh, Diganth and Rajesh Krishnan as three friends finding love in Mugilpete, was written and directed by Yogaraj. Anant Nag, Daisy Bopanna, Neethu and Bhavanaa Raaoh were also pivotal cast members. Ganesh, Diganth and Anant later returned for a sequel of sorts, Gaalipata 2 , with Pawan Kumar replacing Rajesh Krishnan.

Manasaare

Yogaraj wrote the story of the romantic psychological drama starring Diganth and Aindrita Ray, with Pawan Kumar credited for the screenplay. This was Diganth and Aindrita’s first collaboration. Also on the cast were Neethu, Achyuth Kumar, Sathish Ninasam, Pawan, among others.

Pancharangi

Yogaraj Bhat and Pawan Kumar worked on the screenplay of the story by the former, which had Diganth and Nidhi Subbaiah in the lead. Anant Nag had a pivotal role yet in a Bhatru film, with Ramya Barna, Padmaja Rao, Sunder Raj, Pawan Kumar, Sowmya Jaganmurthy, etc. also on the cast of the film.

Paramathma

This romantic comedy was Yogaraj’s only collaboration with the late Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar. Deepa Sannidhi was paired with Puneeth in the film written by Yogaraj and Suri. A love triangle, the film also had Aindrita Ray as a romantic interest. The film was a commercial success.

Yogaraj’s only film with Yash saw the filmmaker pairing the actor with Radhika Pandit, while Ninasam Sathish, who’d had minor parts in several other of the director’s movies, was given the second lead role.
