There are a bunch of romantic dramas that we think you should watch

It’s the Deepavali long weekend – a few Kannada films have released in theatres that you may or may not want to venture out for. The big festival release, Salman Khan’s Tiger 3, lands only on Sunday. Until then, we think there are some titles that may interest you. If you have not watched them already, do give them a dekko. If this list feels like an Amazon Prime Video special, well, that’s because it is the platform that still picks Kannada films routinely.

Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side A

The first part of Hemanth M Rao’s intense love story has been widely lauded for the depiction of the relationship dynamic between the lead pair played by Rakshit Shetty and Rukmini Vasanth. The second part is only a week away from releasing in theatres, so, if you have not seen Side A, yet, now might be a good time to catch up and then see Side B on November 17.

Baanadariyalli

Preetham Gubbi’s Golden Star Ganesh film has all the elements one would expect in a movie led by him. Ganesh makes you laugh and cry in equal measure and will present an emotionally-charged tale that will tug at your heartstrings. Baanadariyalli has vintage Ganesh and a simple, yet tragic love story too. It also features current hot favourite Rukmini Vasanth in the lead.

Kousalya Supraja Rama

Director Shashank’s attempt at portraying the ills of male chauvinistic behaviour, features not one, but two love stories. Darling Krishna gets to romance Brinda Acharya and later Milana Nagaraj in this tale. A decent story, good performances and some good tunes make this film an ideal weekend watch.

Old Monk

Director-actor MG Srinivas may be in the news now for his recent action heist flick Ghost, but his last outing as a leading man was a romantic comedy. Srini was paired with Aditi Prabhudeva in the film about Narada having to find love on earth in order to be able to return to his heavenly abode, after being banished by Lord Krishna.

Gaalipata 2

Yogaraj Bhat’s sequel sees Ganesh and Diganth return on the cast. They are joined by Pawan Kumar and three leading ladies – Vaibhavi Shandilya, Samyukta Menon and Sharmiela Mandre – in this tale of love and friendship.
