With 2023 finally upon us, Bollywood seems to be starting with a bang, and how! After a five-year wait, a film starring Shah Rukh Khan is released in the first month of the year. With Pathaan being the biggest release of the month, a precedent has been set for this year. In the first three months of 2023, we have releases from the biggest of the stars, including Tabu, SRK, Deepika Padukone, Kartik Aaryan, Kriti Sanon, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Rani Mukerji, and Ranbir Kapoor, among others.
Movies that see their releases from January to March 2023 are Kuttey, Mission Majnu, Pathaan, Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh, Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat, Shehzada, Maidaan, Selfiee, Mrs. Chatterjee Vs. Norway, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and Bholaa.

Kuttey - January 13
Director Vishal Bhardwaj's son, Aasmaan Bhardwaj, makes his debut with the black comedy thriller flick Kuttey. Vishal Bhardwaj Films, T-Series Films, and Luv Films are responsible for its production. Arjun Kapoor, Tabu, Naseeruddin Shah, Radhika Madan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kumud Mishra, and Shardul Bhardwaj are the actors featured in the film.
This is a van loaded with crores of rupees. Around midnight on a rainy night in Mumbai's suburbs, three separate bands of outcasts run into each other while searching for a common prey. They're all on the same page, unfortunately. Everyone is out for himself; there is only one bone to go around. Mission Majnu - January 20 (Netflix)
Shantanu Bagchi helmed and produced the spy thriller Mission Majnu with assistance from Ronnie Screwvala, Amar Butala, and Garima Mehta. The film, which stars Sidharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna, is being billed as the "untold narrative of India's greatest clandestine operation" that occurred in the lead-up to and during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.
Pathaan - January 25
Shridhar Raghavan penned the script for Pathaan and Siddharth Anand helmed the action thriller produced by Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films. It is the fourth film in the YRF Spy Universe and features the return to film of Shah Rukh Khan, alongside Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham. Tiger, played by Salman Khan, has a lengthy cameo in Pathaan.
Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh - January 25
The Rajkumar Santoshi directorial features Deepak Antani and Chinmay Mandlekar in the titular roles. The film is produced by Santoshi Productions, LLP Presents, and PVR Pictures.
In the alternate history shown in Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh Mahatma Gandhi makes it through the attack and, years later, meets Nathuram Godse in prison, where the two get into a heated argument. In one instance, Gandhi and Nathuram Godse engaged in a heated debate. Nathuram Godse, who is opposed to violence, warns Gandhiji that he has a weapon and that he will use it till Gandhiji dies. It's a type of mental violence to use it repeatedly to force them to agree.
Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat - February 3
Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat directed by Anurag Kashyap, is a one-of-a-kind love story starring Alaya F and Karan Mehta. Zee Studios and Good Bad Films have produced the forthcoming film.
Shehzada - February 10
Rohit Dhawan penned the screenplay and directed the film Shehzada an action drama. T-Series Films, Haarika & Hassine Creations, Geetha Arts, and Brat Films are the production companies responsible for making this movie. Kartik Aaryan, Kriti Sanon, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Ronit Roy, and Sachin Khedekar are the film's principal cast members. Shehzada is the Hindi remake of the 2020 Telugu film, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.
Maidaan - February 17
The film Maidaan helmed by Amit Sharma and produced by Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios, is a biographical sports drama. Priyamani, Rudranil Ghosh, and Gajraj Rao also act in the film alongside Ajay Devgn, who plays legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim during India's golden age of football (1952–1962).
Selfiee - February 24
Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi have united for Raj Mehta's Selfiee which is the Hindi remake of the hit Malayalam film, Driving Licence. The film has been backed by several production companies, namely Dharma Productions, Prithviraj Productions, Magic Frames, and Cape of Good Films. Diana Penty and Nushrratt Bharuccha are the female leads of Selfiee.
Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway - March 3
Filmmakers Ashima Chibber and Rahul Handa penned the script for their dramatic feature, Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway. Under the Emmay Entertainment banner, produced by Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, and Nikkhil Advani. The movie is based on the true experience of an Indian couple who had their children taken away by Norwegian welfare services in 2011. Rani Mukerji plays the titular role.
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar - March 8
The director of the romantic comedy film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is Luv Ranjan. Both Luv Films and T-Series Films are responsible for the film's production, which was written by Ranjan and Rahul Mody. It also features Dimple Kapadia and Boney Kapoor (in his acting debut) in addition to the aforementioned Shraddha and Ranbir Kapoor.
Bholaa - March 30
The film Bholaa directed by Ajay Devgn, is produced by Ajay Devgn FFilms, Reliance Entertainment, T-Series Films, and Dream Warrior Pictures. Originally released in Tamil in 2019, this is an official remake of Lokesh Kanagaraj's Kaithi. Ajay Devgn and Tabu play the main roles in the movie. Both Amala Paul and Abhishek Bachchan make cameo appearances.
