Veteran actor Chandra Mohan, who had an illustrious five-decade long career in Telugu cinema, breathed his last this morning. He was 82. The actor died of cardiac arrest at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad at 9.45 am. The seasoned performer had bid goodbye to the film industry after the COVID-19 eraand opined it was time to retire from acting. Telugu film celebrities took to Twitter to share their condolences.

While expressing his sadness, Aadi Saikumar hailed Chandra Mohan as a truly remarkable individual and prayed for strength to his family. Vishnu Manchu shared that he will miss the veteran dearly, recalling memories of acting with him in his action comedy Dhee and labelled him a wonderful human being. “He was a phenomenal actor and I grew up watching his movies,” the Kannappa star stated.

Director Maruthi mentioned Chandra Mohan gave many golden films to Telugu cinema and mourned his death. Jr NTR averred that the actor was truly versatile throughout his career, performing a wide variety of roles and said he was saddened by his demise. Sai Dharam Tej felt that the legend brought smiles to everyone’s faces with his performance and characters.

Kotabommali PS actor Rahul Vijay, condoling his death, added, “My deepest condolences to the loved ones of #ChandraMohan Garu. May you find strength and solace in the memories you shared during this challenging time.” Director Ramesh Varma said his contributions to cinema will be remembered fondly. “Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Chandra Mohan, having debuted in B N Reddy’s Rangula Ratnam, excelled at comedy, drama, delivering effective performances diverse roles. Some of his popular films as a lead actor include Subhodayam, Intinta Ramayanam, Shankarabharanam, Seethamalakshmi, Sukha Dukhalu, O Seeta Katha, Siri Siri Muvva, Jeevana Tarangalu and Padaharella Vayasu.
