International Women's Day, that falls on March 8 every year, is just around the corner, and so are a plethora of women-centric Hindi OTT series that can be streamed online. From Aarya Antim Vaar, that released last month on Disney+ Hotstar, to t he Maharani Season 3, dropping on SonyLIV on March 7, there are several women-led series to watch online.

Ahead of this International Women's Day, here are five women-based Hindi OTT show recommendations for you. Read on...

Aarya (Disney+ Hotstar)

Aarya, which is based on the Dutch drama series, Penoza, gives viewers an unmatched, relentless female lead in Sushmita Sen. After her husband is shot and killed, Aarya is devastated and transforms into a fighter. In addition to taking on her family members in an attempt to exact revenge, she takes some hard-hitting measures to safeguard her kids and rises to become the head of a sizable and chaotic criminal organisation. The Main Hoon Na actress made a name for herself in the OTT industry as a performer who could carry off a larger-than-life character, thanks to the series. Co-created by Ram Madhvani and Sandeep Modi, the show delighted audiences with three gripping seasons one after the other as Aarya aka Sushmita took decisions involving life and death with remarkable poise and captivating histrionics in the show.

Maharani (SonyLIV)

Starring Huma Qureshi as the illiterate protagonist, Subhash Kapoor's Maharani dealt with Rani Bharti being named Bihar CM after her husband Bheema Bharti (Sohum Shah) resigned from the chief minister's post unexpectedly in the first season. The second season shows her running a proxy governance from within the confines of a jail, while tackling allegations of lawlessness and misgovernance. The soon-to-arrive third season, though, will showcase our Queen of Bihar exacting revenge on those who wronged her, while fulfilling her political ambitions with panache.

Saas Bahu Achaar Pvt. Ltd. (ZEE5)

A comedy drama, starring Amruta Subhash, Yamini Das, Anup Soni and Anjana Sukhani in pivotal roles, Saas Bahu Aachar Pvt. Ltd. is a story that takes place in the streets of Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi. It centres around Suman, played by Amruta Subhash, a single mother who is trying desperately to create an achaar business and win her kids back from her ex-husband, Dilip played by Anup Soni. Suman’s ex-mother-in-law, Yamini Das, is shown as her support system in her battle. Facing one challenge after the next, the heartwarming duo of ex-mother-in-law and daughter-in-law finally emerge triumphant in achieving their entrepreneurial dreams and become popular.

Masaba Masaba (Netflix)

The unique relationship between fashion designer Masaba Gupta and her mother Neena Gupta is depicted in this endearing series, which is based on true occurrences. It illustrates the intricacies of their mother-daughter connection, while simultaneously celebrating their adventures of chasing their aspirations and forging their own paths in life. Helmed by a female director (Sonam Nair), the refreshing series tells the story from a woman's point of view.

Four More Shots Please! (Amazon Prime Video)

Another female-led comedy drama, Four More Shots Please!, was Amazon Prime Video’s first all-women protagonist Indian original series. Season 1 was directed by Anu Menon, Season 2 was helmed by Nupur Asthana and Season 3 by Joyeeta Patpatia. The series, featuring Sayani Gupta, Bani J, Kirti Kulhari, and Maanvi Gagroo, among others, was hailed by audiences as a desi rehash of American drama series, Sex and The City. In this series, four unabashedly flawed women—two in their 30s and two in their early 20s—find out what truly makes them tick as they love, and make mistakes, while forging friendships and enjoying tequila shots in millennial Mumbai.
