Former politician,Telugu icon PV Narasimha Rao’s biopic in the works, to be helmed by his granddaughter Ajitha

Ajitha is working on the film’s pre-production currently and gathering various inputs from those who knew him from close quarters

The very mention of PV Narasimha Rao’s name in the Telugu land makes people swell with pride - such was his charisma, legacy and to date, he remains the only Telugu-speaking man to have occupied the PM’c chair. The highs and lows in his life offer great scope for any storyteller to adapt it across multiple mediums.

Interestingly, his granddaughter Ajitha is taking a leap of faith to make a biopic on PV Narasimha Rao, that she’ll direct and produce. “It’s important that youngsters today take his life as an example and I hope the film inspires many,” she says. She is taking several inputs from her mother, politician and academician Vani Devi (daughter of PV Narasimha Rao) for the prestigious project.

“My grandfather was a polyglot and had terrific religious tact. The biopic will uncover a lot of aspects about him that is not known in public light and hasn’t been documented,” Ajitha shares. Ajitha also plans to start a film institute shortly and wants the fraternity to make use of the green-mat studio, audio mixing, editing and dubbing units besides providing required facilities for film launches, promotional events in the premises.

Besides this biopic, aha studio and Applause Entertainment are also coming up with a web show, an adaptation of the book Half Lion, written by Vinay Sitapati, based on the life of PV Narsimha Rao. The project, to be directed by Prakash Jha, was announced in Mumbai last year.
