On respecting the woman's choice, Zaira Wasim tweeted a picture of a woman eating while wearing a niqab.
On Monday, Zaira Wasim, who is know for her performances in the films 'Dangal', 'Secret Superstar' and 'The Sky Is Pink', highlighted on social media that she chooses to cover her face during public gatherings. The former actor was responding to a viral picture in which a woman could be seen attempting to dine at a table while entirely covered in a niqab.
Zaira shared the picture and added that it's crucial for people to realise that women choose to wear the niqab on their own volition. She said that a woman could decide to eat while still wearing her niqab.
The tweet from Zaira read, “Just attended a wedding. Ate exactly like this. Purely my choice. Even when everyone around me kept nagging me that I take the niqab off. I didn’t (sic).” She wrote about women being judged for covering themselves in niqab. The actor added, “We don’t do it for you. Deal with it.”
After leaving the film profession a few years ago, on June 30, 2019, Zaira cited the fact that the employment conflicted with her faith and her religion as the reason for her dissatisfaction. The Kashmiri-born woman wrote in detail on her Facebook page that she had come to the realisation that "though I may fit here perfectly, I do not belong here."
The actor's last movie, 'The Sky is Pink,' with Farhan Akhtar and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, was released in 2019. At the age of 16, she made her acting debut in with Aamir Khan in 'Dangal'. She gave her religion as a reason for her decision to leave the movie business. The actor complained that her work was interfering with her connection with God in a lengthy statement on social media.
