Following the theatrical debut of his latest directorial outing, Yatra 2, director Mahi V Raghav expressed relief and gratitude to the film's cast and crew, particularly appreciating the opportunity to work with Malayalam superstar Mammootty once again.
"When the first show happens, it’s no longer my story. My journey ends with this story. Always approached filmmaking as collaborative art; every artist and technician painted their own colour to make it what it is. @mammukka sir, forever grateful. It’s an honour and a blessing to witness you perform. @JiivaOfficial, you have been exceptional; can’t ask for more. @madhie1 @Music_Santhosh #selva all credit to you for making it better than what was in my imagination. Love it or hate it, before you judge it, watch it if it’s possible. Thank you #yatra2," tweeted Mahi.
Yatra 2 is the sequel to Mahi's 2019 movie Yatra. The film dramatizes the rise of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in politics following the untimely death of Telugu political titan and his father YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

In Yatra, Mammootty portrayed the lead role of YS Rajasekhara Reddy. The film narrated YSR's historic 'Praja Prasthanam,' a 1,475 km padayatra he undertook in 2013, showcasing his connection with the people and the impact of his journey on the political landscape in the Telugu states.
Yatra 2 will depict the power vacuum in the politics of Telugu states caused by the sudden death of YSR in a chopper crash in 2009.
In Yatra 2, Tamil star Jiiva plays the lead role of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, while Mammootty makes a cameo appearance.

Yatra 2 was released just a few months before the crucial assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh. This film is seen as an effort from the ruling party to galvanize votes in its favour. However, based on the early reviews , it is safe to say that Yatra 2 has failed to strike a chord with the audiences.
Besides Mammootty and Jiiva, Yatra 2 also stars Ketaki Narayan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Suzanne Bernert, Subhalekha Sudhakar, and George Maryan.
