The first single and teaser from Iravin Nizhal was released at a star-studded event
The first single from Parthiban's Iravin Nizhal was released this evening at an event that was attended by the likes of director Karu Palaniappan, Mano, Madhan Karky, Samuthirakani, pianist Anil Srinivasan and Keerthana Parthiban Akkineni.
After unveiling the melodious number sung by Shreya Ghoshal, Parthiban revealed to the film's composer that one of the reasons he took the plunge into the film was because of AR Rahman. "I have been trying to work with Rahman for a over two decades now, but something or the other kept coming up and things got delayed," he said, while joking that it took 20 years to sit so close to Rahman.
Speaking on the occasion, Rahman told Parthiban, "We all have a passion. But at one point of stage, the passion goes away. But you have never lost it. It's like an injection you give to others. We creative community continue to inspire each other. When I first heard the story, I thought it was sheer madness, but, I didn't expect it to be so good."
Rahman added that he understood the nuances and difficulties of film making. "I recently made a film called 99 Songs. It took around four years to make it. Due to the lockdown, we couldn't release it properly. I got involved in every stage of the filmmaking - story, script writing, camera, colour correction, CG. So, I understand the difficulty. If this film was made in Europe or America, the whole world would have celebrated it. "
Iravin Nizhal is billed as the first non-linear single shot film that features Parthiban, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Anandha Krishnan and Brigida Saga.
The film was mentioned in the Asia and India book of records even before its release and has now been sent to the Cannes Festival. The film has already been receiving praise from people around.
