Father, director by the Kabzaa maker, will have Darling Krishna in the lead, along with Prakash Raj
Kannada filmmaker R Chandru meant business when he recently announced the launch of his RC Studios, through which he said he was going to produce not 1 or 2 but 5 films shortly. The first of the lot, he has now clarified, will be a film called Father, which will have Darling Krishna in the lead.
A story that unfolds between a father and son, the film will have Prakash Raj playing Krishna’s father. Chandru will direct the film, which he says will go on floors on February 27. The filmmaker added that going forward, any film from his banner will be a pan-Indian film, made on a big scale, with artistes from different industries. Father will have Telugu actor Sunil also on board. More details on the cast and crew will be revealed in the coming days.
When Chandru announced the 5 films, he had said that he was looking at directing two, including Kabzaa 2. It was thought that P.O.K would be the film that he had earlier announced as a global project with Kiccha Sudeep, but Chandru is yet to clarify that. After Father, the next project from the banner will be Dog, which he will only serve as producer on.

Chandru says that he is hoping to release all five films in 2024, but given how long it took him to make Kabzaa, it is highly unlikely that he will be able to manage that. There is also the matter of getting all the three stars, Upendra, Sudeep and Shivarajkumar together for the next film. Fan groups of all three actors have been urging them not to work on the sequel, given how disappointed they were with Kabzaa.
Meanwhile, Darling Krishna, who was last seen in Sugar Factory, has one more film, Love Me or Hate Me, pending from his signing spree post Love Mocktail. At the time, the actor-filmmaker had said that he was favouring rom-coms as his choice of acting gigs, but the failure of most of them, except Kousalya Supraja Rama got him to re-evaluate this.

The actor has been working on a physical transformation for an upcoming historical called Halagali, to be directed by Sukesh Nayak. A pre-independence story, the film will be set in 1857 and focus on a tribe of hunters, who’d successfully waged attacks against the British and won.
