The first-look poster of director Pa Ranjith’s upcoming gangster flick, Vettuvam (The Hunted) was launched at the Cannes Film Festival,
Director Pa Ranjith is at the Cannes Film Festival for the launch of the first look of his upcoming film, Vettuvam. Pictures of him from the festival looking all dapper are doing the rounds on the internet. The first-look poster was released at the festival on Cannes. The poster features a handpainted growling tiger, and represents the dichotomy of power, where in the hunter can become the hunted. The poster was launched in the presence of producers Abhayanand Singh, Piiyush Singh, and Ashwini Choudhary along with Aditi Anand.
The film's production house, too, shared the poster on their social media page. Going by a press release shared the film, the plot of Vettuvam revolves a notorious rural gangster Cholan, a modern-day Robin Hood to his people, who rises to rule in the Ponni region. The film is set to go into production later this year in 2022 with a release planned for 2023. Vettuvam is being bankrolled by Golden Ratio Films, the film production arm of Vistas Media Capital, and Ranjith’s Neelam Studios.
The plot revolves around Cholan, a leader who stands against oppression, but surrenders to the law enforcement for protection. The film delves into the last few months of his life in prison. The series will portray the making of the Ponni King. Set out to be a pulsating drama, Vettuvam is the story of how powerful people wage wars and win them," revealed a statement.
Speaking after the launch Ranjith had stated that the film is the story of a daily wage labourer’s rise to a position of power. He said that the film talks about those in power, who have ensured that inferiority prevails and those who are pushed to the margins, remain there.
