Mohan Raja has written the screenplay and directed the film, an official remake of the Malayalam hit Lucifer
Chiranjeevi is looking forward to his next release Godfather, trying to put the setback of Acharya behind him. The political drama is the Telugu remake of Lucifer having him step into the shoes of Mohanlal from the original. The Telugu version is directed by Mohan Raja, who has also come up with the screenplay. RB Choudary and NV Prasad have bankrolled the film under Konidela Productions and Super Good Films. The film is slated for a Dasara release.
Much to the surprise of fans who've been waiting for an update around Godfather, the makers announced the film's teaser will be launched on August 21 commemorating Chiranjeevi's birthday. In the teaser announcement poster, Chiranjeevi is sporting black shades in a salt-and-pepper look. Incidentally, it's the first time the star will appear in a salt-and-pepper look in his film career. The film, which has more or less wrapped its shoot, is currently in its post-production stages.
Nayanthara, who shared screenspace with Chiranjeevi in Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, reunites with the star for a crucial role in this political drama as well. Salman Khan will appear in an extended cameo for the film, reprising the role played by actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran in the Malayalam version. He'll also be seen shaking a leg with Chiranjeevi in a song choreographed by Prabhudeva, which was shot in Mumbai recently. S Thaman scores the music for the film.
Nirav Shah is the cinematographer for Godfather, while Suresh Selvarajan, who also worked for Chiranjeevi's Acharya, is the art director. Satya Dev, Puri Jagannadh, Sunil too play important roles in the film. Chiranjeevi's better half Surekha Konidela is the presenter of the same. Vakada Apparao is the executive producer and Lakshmi Bhupala is the dialogue writer. After Godfather, Chiranjeevi will be seen next in director Bobby's untitled mass entertainer and Bholaa Shankar with Meher Ramesh.
