Fighter Trailer Review

While Merry Christmas marked the beginning of the year for Hindi cinema as the first release of 2024, the big commercial tentpole films group is about to open in 10 days, and the one with the responsibility to kickstart it is Fighter. Starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor in lead roles, the movie has been one of the most-anticipated films ever since it was announced. As we gear up for the release of this much-anticipated film, the makers have released the trailer, and it is an adrenaline-pumping experience.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, known for Pathaan and War, Fighter comes from his production house, Marflix. The complete cast includes Deepika, Hrithik, and Anil, alongside Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Talat Aziz, and Sharib Hashmi, among other prominent names. With music by Vishal and Shekhar, the film already seems to have a money-minting formula. The trailer, released recently, promises a massive cinematic experience. So, as we begin the countdown to the release of this action saga, let's dissect the trailer a bit more.

Fighter Trailer Review:

The world of Air Defence is tough to crack, and the fact that the world knows very little about it, except for what they've seen in films like Tom Cruise's Top Gun, makes it a challenging theme. When an Indian filmmaker sets an entire story in this space with the top stars of our times, how does he make the audience believe in the vision he has seen? Siddharth Anand is a director who has made the audience suspend their disbelief more than once, and his logic-defying cinema is so stylish that at no point do viewers question, 'But how did the man survive such a lethal fall?' That's the magic of cinema we are talking about.

The Fighter trailer that hit shores today looks stylish. There is enough panache to overshadow an entire city, if not a state, and the star power it carries on the internet is massive. Siddharth Anand visually worships the actors he has cast, and Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone look surreal as they fly fighter jets in uniform and equally impressive when they are on a picturesque beach somewhere far away, dressed immaculately. However, the concerning aspect is the main conflict that involves the Pulwama tragedy and the airstrike that followed. The backdrop seems overdone, and there are no angles left to cover.

But one cannot ignore the fact that this world looks a lot like Tom Cruise’s Top Gun, and in that case, it would be Siddharth Anand with Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan serving India our very own Top Gun. There is also a flipside – the movie might end up being a rip-off that not many would connect to. Additionally, many elements in Siddharth’s cinema are now repetitive, from a beachside song where the leading lady always looks the same always to the man flaunting his abs. The structure has been the same for at least his last three films.

But hey, I can be wrong, and there might be a complete change in the blueprint this time. Or we might actually have a worthy Top Gun equivalent with this franchise. We will have to wait till January 25, 2024, to know as that’s when Fighter hits the big screen. Celebrate this Republic Day in cinemas with Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, and the team.

Stay tuned to OTTplay for more on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films. Also, come back here to read the Fighter review on January 25.
