Siddharth Anand's Fighter stars Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor in lead roles.
Fighter has its first important Monday test after a lackluster start and a nice long weekend. According to early figures published by industry tracker Sacnilk, the Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone starrer aerial actioner earned ₹8 cr.
Trade reports that following a good 4-day weekend, which included the Republic Day holiday and the film benefitted from it, the Siddharth Anand-directed film needed to sustain double-digit numbers at the box office for a good lifetime run. With revenues under ₹10 cr, however, Fighter appears to be preparing for a challenging future.
Fighter's domestic earnings at the box office after five days of release now stand at ₹126.50 cr, while the worldwide total is close to ₹220 cr. Fighter's box office receipts will fall short of those of Siddharth Anand's last successful film Pathaan (which grossed ₹524 cr in Hindi) and Hrithik Roshan's last film War (which brought in ₹318 cr). But looking at the box office collection of Fighter on Monday, the film needs to pick up soon to be on the race.
At the domestic box office, the movie made ₹22.5 crore upon its premiere. In India, the movie brought in ₹39.5 crore on day two, ₹27.5 crore on day three, and ₹29 crore on day four. Fighter brought in about ₹8 crore nett in India on its fifth day for all languages. This is also the first Monday in the movie, which helps to explain the decline in part.
Fighter, which also starred Anil Kapoor, Akshay Oberoi, and Karan Singh Grover was the year's first major Bollywood release. It is currently running in the theatres without any competition. But with the release of Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya on February 9, the film will start fading away more. However, the romantic comedy starring Kriti Sanon and Shahid Kapoor is still more than a week away which gives Fighter a chance to make an impact at the box office.
