With a spectacular performance in Rashmi Rocket Taapsee Pannu has once again proved her capability to the Indian cinema space. The movie, which portrays a struggling tale of an athlete, sprinted into the hearts of the audience, soon after its release.
After her success, the actress feels that she is neither suited for brainless masala movies or too much intense movies. Rather she would love to stand between both of these, where the audience can love and enjoy them at the same time. In a recent chat with Manorama, the Thappad actress spoke about her movie experiences and further shared her insights on the space of females in Indian cinema.
“Rashmi Rocket is more special than my other films”, says Pannu. She seems to have worked hard to perfect the character both physically and mentally. Almost a year was spent by her for the body transformation as an athlete, which not only changed her body, but her routine too. Reacting to the social media comments which trolled her for having a masculine appearance, she said she takes it as an appreciation. She also added that the comments are proof that the character came out in its authenticity and perfection.
The actress who has played notable roles in movies like Thappad and Pink said that she is always drawn to unique stories and roles. She also feels there are lots of hurdles before Indian actresses before they can attain equality in the workspace. She put forward an instance and revealed that the entire budget of a female centric movie would be equal to,or less than the payment of a male lead in the industry. Also, the remuneration of other actors in the female-centric movie will also be minimal along with the entire production cost, added her.
