Felicity Jones and Shailene Woodley's first film together, The Last Letter From Your Lover, releases on Netflix.
Shailene Woodley and Callum Turner whip up a love affair without closure through their penmanship in the time-hopping trailer of The Last Letter From Your Lover that was released by Netflix on Tuesday.
The film, based on Jojo Moyes’ eponymous romance novel, has Shailene as Jennifer Stirling, who falls in love with her husband’s employee Anthony O’Hare (Callum Turner), in 1960s London. The duo exchange letters to stoke their forbidden affair. The film also jumps between the past and present, when Felicity Jones’ character Ellie, a journalist, unearths the letters between the couple and sets out to find out how their love story ended. The letters from the past also play Cupid in Ellie’s life as a romance blossoms between her and an archivist (Nabhaan Rizwan), who helps her connect the dots.
Directed by Augustine Frizzell, the movie also stars Joe Alwyn and Ncuti Gatwa. The Last Letter From Your Lover marks the first movie with Shailene and Felicity, while it remains to be seen if the duo will share screen space in it.

On being part of the project, Shailene in an earlier interview with Entertainment Weekly, said, “Before I even read the script I was inclined to say yes.” One major reason was its filmmaker. “I had been really wanting to work with Augustine and just loved her as a human being… Then I read the script and it was really beautifully executed — I don’t feel like there’s a lot of movies that are told this way and are also executed in a way that’s thoroughly entertaining and intelligent,” she said.
The film is slated to release on Netflix on July 23.
