Kiccha Sudeep's camaraderie with ex-Indian cricket captain and bonafide legend Kapil Dev continues to blossom. The two had recently spent quality time during the promotions of the Hindi film 83 which is based on the real-life World Cup triumph of the Indian cricket team in 1983. Sudeep had presented the film in Kannada and was seen having a swell time with the likes of Kapil Dev, Ranveer Singh, and others. The Vikrant Rona actor had taken to social media post the event and went on to describe the former cricketer as the "epitome of humility".
And to make things better, Kiccha Sudeep woke up to a rather special surprise that came as the courtesy of the entire squad of the 1983 world cup. The actor received a specially signed miniature cricket bat that bore the autographs of not just Kapil Dev but also the likes of Sunny Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Krishnamachari Srikanth, Mohinder Amarnath, and many others. The souvenir also featured a special mention of Kapil Dev's iconic score of 175* in bold red which he had struck against Zimbabwe on June 18, 1983, in the same Prudential World Cup.
"Wohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh🥳🥳...What a Sunday .. thank uuuu @therealkapildev sirrrrr for this hugeeeeeee surprise I'm waking th to. Wowwww... wasnt expecting this. This a classic piece and I'm right now feeling on top of the world. Thank you thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️" wrote an evidently jubilated Kiccha Sudeep in his tweet.
For the unversed, the match against Zimbabwe has a special tryst with history as the match was never televised but the scorecard has remained etched permanently in the minds of the fans. Kapil Dev walked in to bat when India was reeling under immense pressure at 17/5 and looked all set for a horrific day on the field - The Haryana Hurricane then scored a legendary knock of 175 to not only pull the team out of the tricky situation but also lend them a 31-run victory against the Zimabweans. India would go on to beat West Indies in the finals to lift its maiden world cup.
Sudeep is known to be an ardent fan of the game of cricket and has displayed his sharp skills as a player in celebrity cricket tournaments. The actor can often be spotted cheering his favorite team on from the stands and being a vocal supporter of the sport. He had recently received a surprise gift from the hands of the English batsman/wicket-keeper Jos Buttler who sent him his signed bat.
On the work front, Kiccha Sudeep is now gearing up for the release of his most-anticipated film Vikrant Rona which hits the big screen worldwide on July 28. The actor, along with director Anup Bhandari and co-star Jacqueline Fernandez, embarked on a promotional tour comprising all the major Indian cities to discuss the recently-released trailer and the upcoming film.
