The original thriller featured Michael Douglas, Glenn Close and Anne Archer in pivotal roles
Lizzy Caplan is set to star in the upcoming Paramount Plus series Fatal Attraction based on the 1987 movie of the same name.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series has been in development at the studios since back in February this year, although the formal announcement was made recently.
Alexandra Cunningham will be the writer, showrunner and executive producer of the drama. Kevin J. Hynes,Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey will also be on board as executive producers.
The 1987 thriller tells the story of a married lawyer, Dan, who has a brief affair with a woman named Alex. Although the two had agreed it to be a one time thing, the woman becomes obsessed with him, trying to insert herself in his life. When he refuses to give in, she resorts to dangerous and violent ways to get his attention. The film stars Michael Douglas, Glenn Close and Anne Archer in pivotal roles.
The Paramount Plus series will see Caplan essay the role of Alex, played by Close in the movie. Close had received a nomination for the Academy Award for best actress for her portrayal.
The upcoming series will serve as a contemporary reimagining of the film and will explore the themes of marriage, infidelity, personality disorders and coercive control.

Paramount Plus’ Nicole Clemens talked about how she looked forward to the story being told from a different and complex point of view. The story had until then been approached only through the male gaze, she adds.
Fatal Attraction’s premiere date is yet to be determined.
