Justin Lin, the director of the tenth edition of the Fast and Furious franchise, has made the decision to leave the production. The filmmaker, who has directed numerous movies in the long-running action franchise, left the upcoming film just days after it began filming.

The separation is cordial, according to Deadline, but it is the outcome of creative differences amongst Universal Studios and the filmmaker. Lin announced his resignation from the film, which has been named Fast X in a tweet on the franchise's official Twitter account.

With Universal's help, he made the tough choice to stand down as filmmaker of Fast X while continuing as a producer on the film. They've been capable of shooting the best actors, stunts, and crazy vehicle chase sequences over the course of ten years and five films, the director added.

On a separate note, as the son of Asian immigrants, he is happy to have contributed to the establishment of the most diverse film franchise in history. He will be eternally thankful to the incredible cast, crew, and studio for their unwavering support and for embracing him into the Fast family, he concluded.

Fast X was co-written by Lin alongside Dan Mazeau, and was planned to helm the franchise's 10th and 11th films, with the 11th being the final sequel.

Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious, Fast Five, Fast and Furious 6, and F9 were his previous movies.

Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Ludacris Bridges, and Sung Kang will all star in the tenth edition, in which Vin Diesel will be the lead actor. Jason Momoa and Brie Larson will also be entering in the next film franchise.

The film is known to premiere on May 19, 2023.
