The upcoming film will feature Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Sung Kang and Charlize Theron
After becoming an integral part of DC by taking up Aquaman’s trident, Jason Momoa will have his name attached to another popular film franchise, namely Fast and Furious. It was announced that the actor would feature in the tenth instalment of the film series, which is tentatively titled Fast and Furious 10.
The makers welcomed the star to be a part of the "family" in a post on their official Twitter handle. According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, it is speculated that Momoa will play the role of an antagonist in the upcoming film.
The news of Momoa’s casting comes on the heels of the back and forth between franchise stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson regarding the latter’s future involvement in the film series. Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto, had last year made a public request via Instagram to Johnson to reprise his role as secret agent Lucas Hobbs. Johnson had declined, slamming Diesel for being "manipulative" through the public post, even though the two had civilly decided on the matter privately.
The upcoming film will include returning cast members such as Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Sung Kang, and Charlize Theron. Justin Lin, who has directed previous instalments namely The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), Fast & Furious 6 (2013) and F9 (2021), will return as director. The upcoming film is slated for release in 2023.
The popular film series debuted in 2001 with The Fast and the Furious, which starred Diesel and Paul Walker. The latter died in a car crash in 2013, his last film appearance being in Furious 7 (2015).
Meanwhile, Momoa has the film Slumberland and the Aquaman sequel, titled Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, awaiting release.
