Khan had essayed the role of the titular protagonist in the Don film series, helmed by Akhtar
It’s an exciting time to be a Shah Rukh Khan fan. Not only is the star coming back to the big screen after almost four years with his new film Pathaan, the star has also announced his new OTT app today, called SRK+. Bollywood stars congratulated Khan and wished him well on his new venture, and Farhan Akhtar was one of them.
Congratulating Khan on his new venture, Akhtar talked about how he was intrigued to see what’s to come. As soon as netizens got news of this small interaction on Twitter, the platform erupted with tweets by fans asking for Don 3.
While some fans started to reply to the filmmaker’s tweet by asking him to make Don 3 happen, some others speculated whether the film would make its way onto Khan’s newly formed platform.
Some were well aware of the hilarity of the situation as well. While one accurately predicted that Don 3 would start trending again, another remarked how everyone keeps ‘spamming’ Akhtar about Don 3 whenever he tweets anything.
This is not the first time that netizens have asked the filmmaker for another instalment in the Don film series. When Don 2 had completed a decade last year in December Akhtar had penned a note reminiscing about his experience of working on the film. Fans had taken the opportunity to request him to make Don 3 at the time as well, leading to it trending yet again.
Akhtar had written and directed Don (2006) and Don 2 (2011), which also starred Priyanka Chopra, Om Puri and Boman Irani.
