The series, which is currently under production, will premiere on Netflix.
As previously reported, Fardeen Khan is making his acting comeback in Riteish Deshmukh and Sanjay Gupta's Visfot. The movie has already been shot and is in post-production with a late 2022 theatrical release in mind. After a 12-year break, Fardeen is relishing being back on set and wants to be a part of as many fantastic tales as he can in this new stage of his career. With Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor, the Heyy Babyy actor will next be seen in Anees Bazmee's No Entry sequel. He also has plans to launch his own production company, which will focus on remakes of some of his father Feroz Khan's classic films. And now we learn that Fardeen is also producing a web series.
According to PeepingMoon, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ambitious series Heeramandi would be Fardeen's OTT debut. The actor has joined the cast of this high-budget Netflix series, which also includes Bollywood female actors Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, and Sharmin Segal. He will portray one of the leading guys. With this Bhansali film, Fardeen, who has primarily appeared in romantic comedies and action thrillers, enters the major leagues and works on a period drama for the first time. He will reportedly join the sets on the following timetable after having purportedly already shot several scenes.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's fantasy project, Heeramandi which is billed as the most costly web series to come out of Netflix India, examines themes of love, betrayal, succession, and politics in the bordellos of Heeramandi via three generations of courtesans. The show is an emotionally charged saga about a gallery of gorgeous courtesans set in the pre-Independence, undivided India in the Heeramandi neighbourhood of Lahore, which is now in Pakistan. It features Bhansali's signature larger-than-life magnificent sets, intricate compositions, and unforgettable characters.
The first two episodes of this eight-part series are directed by Bhansali, as are all of the songs. Mitakshara Kumar and Vibhu Puri, who are Bhansali's assistants, take over for the remaining episodes. The show promises to enthral viewers and transport them into a realm of great grandeur, beauty, and severity at the same time. The dialogues were written by Moin Beg and Reshu Nath.
On June 27, Heeramandi began filming at Mumbai's Film City Studio, beginning with a mujra scene starring Manisha Koirala and Aditi Rao Hydari. The remainder of the series, which also features some seasoned Bollywood performers, like the great Mumtaz, is alleged to have been shot on two large sets imitating the 1970s that were reportedly built at Film City.
There has been no confirmation of the casting of Huma Qureshi, Nimrat Kaur, or Sayani Gupta, who have also been rumoured to star in this show.
Fardeen portrays one of the male roles, and Siddharth Gupta plays the other. One of the supporting characters is played by Marathi actor Jaywant Wadkar.
