The teaser that came out on leading man Upendra’s birthday has an additional slide with details of the Hindi distribution partner.
When the teaser of director R Chandru’s ambitious gangster flick Kabzaa came out, there was a lot of buzz surrounding it. While the visuals and music seemed reminiscent of the KGF saga, fans were appreciative of the making quality visible in the teaser. The film is supposed to get a pan-India release in multiple languages, including Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Bhojpuri and Odia, among others. So, when news of a Hindi teaser broke, fans were eagerly waiting to see what the filmmaker would present, since the original teaser had no dialogue that could have been dubbed.
Turns out, there was nothing new. Chandru pushed out the same teaser, with some additional information about the film’s Hindi production and distribution partner and called it ‘Underworld ka Kabzaa’. Anand Pandit has joined hands with Chandru for the Hindi version, whereas Vikrant Rona co-producer Alankar Pandian of Invenio Origin is the partner for the Kannada original.
Fans, of course, are disappointed and wonder why Chandru would resort to such a ‘publicity gimmick’. Comments ranged from, “This teaser was released few months ago. Why again putting it out as something new??”, to “I had expected new teaser but yeh to purana hi chipka diya” and more came up in response to the ‘new’ teaser.
There were also multiple comments about the KGF-vibe that the Kabzaa teaser has. “Teaser mast he.... lekin isko dekhne ke baad kgf wali feeling aarhi he”, “Visuals are KGF Copy Paste”, “Yeh log light use kyun nahi karte sab kuch andhera andhera, aur same coal mine same dust smoke filter”, “Looks like these ppl sneaked into abandoned KGF sets and made the film”, “Looks like a crude rehash of KGF”, were just some of the responses pouring in for the teaser.
Meanwhile, Kabzaa, which will be released in two parts, is Chandru’s biggest production to date. The film boasts a massive ensemble cast including Real Star Upendra, Kiccha Sudeep, Shriya Saran, Kabir Duhan Singh, Nawab Shah, Samuthirakani, Anoop Revanna, among many others.
