Despite various speculation doing the rounds pertaining to the cast of Ajith's next project and its shooting, producer Boney Kapoor made an official announcement about the film with a never before seen picture of the star. The picture has Ajith sporting a long white beard and a white goggles.

Boney also informed that preparations are going on with regard to the movie's shooting which is expected to kick off in March in Hyderabad. Tentatively titled AK 61, the film will have director Vinoth at the helm. The trio of Ajith, Vinoth and Boney are collaborating for the third time after Nerkonda Paarvai and Valimai.

There have been unconfirmed reports on social media that Tabu and Prakash Raj, who have earlier teamed up with Ajith, have been cast in pivotal roles. The team is said to have been in talks with Mohanlal and Nagarjuna, too, to play a pivotal character in the movie.

According to sources, unlike Nerkonda Paarvai and Valimai, Ghibran has been roped in to score music for AK 61. Nirav Shah, who cranked the camera for the trio's previous two outings, will handle cinematography for the project.

Meanwhile, the most anticipated Tamil film of the season, Valimai, is hitting the screens on February 24. The shows are likely to begin in Tamil Nadu from as early as 1 am. The last release of Ajith was in 2019, and fans can't wait to watch their favourite star on the big screen.

The movie, which was supposed to release on Deepavali in November, was officially announced as a Pongal release on January 13. But the outbreak of third wave of COVID spoiled the plans of makers. It is said that more than 90 per cent of theatres in Tamil Nadu will screen Valimai from February 24.
