Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur pair for the first time in their career. Apart from them, the film also stars Rohini Hattangidi, Vasuki, and Jagapathi Babu in supporting roles. Written and directed by Parasuram, Family Star is directed by KU Mohanan and has music by Gopisundar.
It is to be noted that there are strong speculations that Rashmika Mandanna will be making a guest appearance in the film. Her portions are expected to come in the scenes shot in the US. However, the makers have remained tight-lipped about her involvement. Rashmika played the female lead in Geetha Govindham.
In a pre-release event of the film, Vijay had compared Family Star to Geetha Govindham. ““The film Family Star is like Geetha Govindham on Steroids. If you like it, you will love Family Star. I am happy to come back here with the huge producer Dil Raju sir, who has made great films like Varisu,” he said. Meanwhile, Mrunal, who plays Indu in the film, is confident that no one else can play the character like she did and thanked the producers for giving her the role.
Backed by producer Dil Raju, Family Star will be a family entertainer and has been given a U/ A certificate. The censor board has suggested a few cuts for derogatory words. Family Star will run for two hours and 43 minutes.
Family Star's post-theatrical streaming rights have been bagged by Netflix. The film is expected to make its streaming debut in May. Netflix has paid Rs 16 crore to bag the digital rights. This is the highest ever for a Vijay Deverakonda film.
