Aavesham is helmed by Jithu Madhavan, who had previously directed Romancham
The latest pictures of Fahadh Faasil’s film Aavesham are making cinephiles curious. Why? Released on social media, the new pictures show the actor sporting the look of a thug with a thick moustache and heavy accessories on his neck and arms. Now, Chemban Vinod Jose - the actor and writer of Angamaly Diaries and Bheemante Vazhi - has said in an interview that Fahadh’s avatar is inspired by his character (Sayed Mohammedh) in Romancham where he played a businessman and loan shark.

Romancham was a horror comedy helmed by Jithu Madhavan, who is also directing Aavesham. In Romancham Chemban featured in a hilarious scene that evoked laughter in the theatres, and is regarded as one of the best scenes in the film. In an interview with Club FM Malayalam, Chemban revealed that he was invited to play a part in Romancham by cinematographer Gireesh Gangadharan.
Speaking about the role of Sayed, Chemban said that the character and the scene in the film are based on real-life incidents. “The characters and the scenes shown in the film are 80% true, and are inspired by real events. I think Fahadh’s new film is based on this character and the storyline draws inspiration from the makers’ college experiences,” he elaborated. Meanwhile, there are also reports that in the movie Fahadh plays the brother of Sayed.
What is Aavesham all about?
Aavesham is touted to be an action comedy, bankrolled by Anwar Rasheed and Nazriya Nazim. The film is set in a college in Bengaluru, where a group of students ask for help from a local goon to protect them. In an earlier interview with OTTplay Fahadh said that he hasn’t played such a character before. The film boasts an acclaimed technical crew that includes Sameer Thahir (as cinematographer) and Sushin Shyam (as composer). Aavesham is expected to hit the cinemas early 2024.
