Kirkkan, the new film of Maqbool Salmaan also stars Kani Kusruti, Vijayaraghavan, Salim Kumar, and Anarkali Marikar, and is currently in theatres
Maqbool Salmaan, the actor who belongs to the family of Malayalam actor Mammootty, is known for his roles in films like Matinee, Kasaba, and Masterpiece. His film, Kirkkan, in which he plays a police officer, is currently running in theatres.
Soon after the release of the film, the actor got candid about his famous cousin, actor Dulquer Salmaan. Speaking to Silly Monks Mollywood, Maqbool said that he was surprised that Dulquer chose to become an actor because he has liked videography since he was a child.
“We throw stones in ponds and make videos on a handy cam of the ripple effect they create. This was Dulquer's idea and our main activity at the time. Now, when I look back at it, I think there was a director in him back then. The family never expected Dulquer to join films as an actor. We all thought that he was interested in business or working behind the camera. He had even told me that he was interested in becoming a director," Maqbool said.
Maqbool even spoke about his own acting career and the process behind his script selection. “I became an actor out of passion. In my early days, I wasn’t selective and did whichever movies came my way. I became more selective after doing Kasaba. I am not someone who only wants to play lead roles. If the character excites me, I will do it, irrespective of the screen space or screen time."
Maqbool, who debuted in AK Saajan’s Asuravithu, became popular with the film Matinee. Starring alongside Mythili, Maqbool played an aspiring actor in Matinee.
Meanwhile, Dulquer is gearing up for the release of King of Kotha, the biggest film of his career. Helmed by Abhilash Joshiy, the son of veteran director Joshiy, the film is touted to be a mass action entertainer.
