'Chiyaan' Vikram, among all things, is mainly adored by millions for his tenacity and penchant to explore something new as an actor. Over the years, it is evident that he has striven hard to dabble with roles or characters that are beyond the ordinary, even if he is required to completely step out of his comfort zone. This could be through a stark, painstaking physical transformation, like the ones he has displayed in films like Sethu, Anniyan and I or by attempting to speak a language that he doesn't fully comprehend - like in the case of films like David, Raavan and others. And with the pan-India concept allowing for linguistic borders to be blurred out even further, one expects an actor of Vikram's range to find suitable opportunities in all film industries.

Would the Ponniyin Selvan 2 star be keen on being part of a Kannada film? Not very long ago, Vikram spoke highly about the Kannada Film Industry and its most recent exploits such as KGF 2 and Kantara, adding that he would be more than glad to try out a Kannada project. He would even bring up Pawan Kumar and reveal that his team has been in touch with the U Turn and Dhoomam filmmaker for a possible collaboration. Since then, one has been curious to know if there is, indeed, a film on the cards involving the two.

Well, OTTplay did some digging and reached out to Pawan Kumar himself to find out what's on the cards. And, as it turns out, the collaboration never really took off but was defused quite early on, before even Vikram could get involved in the conversation.

"I was in touch with a producer and Vikram's manager and we were looking to mount a project. There was no particular script in mind but a collaboration was on the cards. But things did not materialize," shares Pawan.

Vikram will next be seen reprising his role of Aditha Karikalan in Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 2 the second instalment of the film adaptation of the Kalki Krishnamurthy historical epic. He is currently shooting for Pa Ranjith's Thangaalan in which he plays the titular role.

Pawan Kumar, on the other hand, is currently busy with the post-production of his Malayalam debut Dhoomam. The film, which is a Hombale Films production, stars Fahadh Faasil, Aparna Balamurali, Roshan Mathew and others.
