The movie will be helmed by debutant Vishnu Aravind and scripted by Kalki writers Praveen Prabharam and Sujin Sujathan
Unni Mukundan’s birthday has been a treat for his fans. The actor has been sharing updates from his ongoing movies while also making two huge announcements about his upcoming projects – Yemaha and Gandharva Jr.
The latter, which was announced through Prithviraj Sukumaran’s social media page, has also piqued the curiosity of his fans the most. The movie, which will be helmed by debutant Vishnu Aravind, is scripted by writers Praveen Prabharam and Sujin Sujathan, who had previously written the script of Tovino Thomas’ ‘mass’ entertainer Kalki.
In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, the movie’s co-producer Prasobh Krishna, of Little Big Films tells us, “The movie belongs to the fantasy humour genre. It’s in the same vein as films such as Naradhan Keralathil, Pappan Priyapetta Pappan and Sakshal Sreeman Chattunni. Its story is about a gandharvan (a celestial being) falling down to earth and what happens next.”
Apart from Unni, none of the cast in the film has been confirmed yet. “We are planning to begin the shoot of Gandharva Jr only by January 2023. It’s a film that will be made on a big budget,” says the producer. The film will be released in Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada.
Earlier in the day, Mammootty had launched the title poster of Unni Mukundan’s upcoming movie Yemaha, which will be directed by Ullas Krishna and scripted by Deepu S Nair and Sandeep Sadanandan.
Unni has an exciting year ahead with his Telugu venture Yashoda, starring Samantha, set to release. He has also completed shooting for Arun Bose’s Mindiyum Paranjum, Anup Pandalam’s Shafeekkinte Santosham and is currently shooting for Vishnu Sasi Shankar’s Malikkapuram, which is scripted by Night Drive and Cadaver writer Abhilash Pillai. The actor also has director Vysakh and scriptwriter Udaykrishna’s action entertainer Bruce Lee, which is expected to go on floors later this year. The big budget venture is produced at a budget exceeding Rs 50 crore.
