The actress reveals her career plans to us
Maanvi Gagroo was a prominent face on OTT even when web content on the space was still in the experimental stage. Ever a risk taker, she is known for choosing strong content. And her body of work is proof of this: she has had pivotal parts in web shows like Pitchers, Permanent Roommates, Made in Heaven, and The Good Vibes.
Now that acting in web shows has become an ambitious move for many superstars, Maanvi, in conversation with OTTplay shares why she is not in hurry to do a film.
Maanvi said, "I think that with mainstream Bollywood films, many of the makers do not care about the substance in female characters. They want us to look a certain way and don't care about acting talent much. As long as I am getting good work, I am fine with any platform. The day I am offered a good film, I will do it, but I am not desperate to do a Bollywood film."
The actress has been a part pf films like No One Killed Jessica, PK, Tu Hai Mera Sunday, Ujda Chaman and Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan in the past. She also got noticed for her performance in all of them. However, she says the meatier parts of any project, she still gets from web shows.
"In the past, I did films because either the script was good or I was eager to work with a specific filmmaker or actor. When you are young, you have a wish list. Now, for me that is a good script. The messaging of the film should be correct and the people with whom I am collaborating with should excite me. So, I am open to doing films, but certainly not desperate for it," she adds.
Maanvi will next be seen in the Tripling Season 3, directed by Neeraj Udhwani, which also features Sumeet Vyas, Amol Parashar, Kumud Mishra and Shernaz Patel. It will be available to stream on OTTplay and ZEE5 on October 21.
