The movie, which is set to be directed by Darwin Kuriakose, will go on floors by end of July
Tovino Thomas will once again be donning the khaki and boots for director Darwin Kuriakose’s Anveshippin Kandethum. However, more than being a crime thriller or an action entertainer, the film focuses on the emotional baggage of police officers.
In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, the movie’s scriptwriter Jinu V Abraham tells us, “The film mainly focuses on the mental conflicts of the investigators. We show their mental journey from one case to another, and how the emotional baggage of their previous investigation influences their current case. If they have earned praise or rebuke due to their probe; all of this has a say in their next case.”
The movie has Tovino playing the role of a cop named Ananth Narayanan. Aadhya Prasad, who was seen in Nizhal, Alencier Ley and Nanda are also part of the movie.
“Malayalam cinema hasn’t discussed these issues faced by the investigators. We usually just see them solve a case and be done with it. Anveshippin Kandethum throws light on the emotional turmoil of the police officers,” says Jinu. “An investigation or a crime isn’t what assumes the prominence in this film. We, in fact, show several cases that are unrelated through the perspective of its investigating officer.”
The scriptwriter, who is working on a police story again after Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Masters with this film, tells us what excited him most about it is its format. “We are trying something that hasn’t been experimented before in terms of screenplay, in Malayalam cinema,” says Jinu.
The movie will also have a host of newcomers and a few prominent faces. The team is expected to begin the casting process by the end of May. Shoot of the film, which also has cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, composer Santosh Narayanan and editor Saiju Sreedharan as part of its crew, is expected to start by the end of July or in August.
