In a recent conversation with OTTplay, the Vikrant Rona director shares a tiny but crucial update regarding his much-awaited film
Filmmaker Anup Bhandari isn't the most active social media user by any means but every time he does show up online, his followers take notice. The writer-director has been away from the arclights since the release of Vikrant Rona and one has wondered often if he has been busy churning out a fitting script for one his many grand visions. Turns out, he has been doing that and although Anup is yet to fully 'accept' that, his most recent not-so-direct tweet puts things in perspective. His recent birthday inspired him to share a post that almost gave away the open secret he withheld all these days, resulting the anticipation among all the Kiccha Sudeep fans to amplify even further.
Anup Bhandari and Sudeep are set to reunite for the much-awaited Billa Ranga Baasha, a film that's been in development for almost five years and following many ebbs and flows, it would seem that it will finally see the light of day. Neither Anup nor Sudeep are yet to openly discuss the current status of the project but a mega announcement is certainly around the corner.
When asked about the same, Anup Bhandari shares, "There are no updates at the moment but we will announce the collaboration once Sudeep sir is done with the CCL (the Celebrity Cricket League) and we start the pre-production of the project. We plan on taking it on floors later this year but it will take at least six months of pre-production. P.S: We are yet to announce the title and details of the project".
Well, trust the RangiTaranga director to stay committed to his plan of making a grand reveal, and that too at the right time! Most likely, Billa Ranga Baasha will be formally announced on or around the upcoming Ugadi festival.
As far as Sudeep is concerned, the cricket aficionado in him is currently engrossed in CCL 2023 as an integral part of the Karnataka Bulldozers. The team has been in red-hot form since the beginning and has won three games in a row, earning itself a place in the semifinals.
Coming to Billa Ranga Baasha, Anup Bhandari has previously described the film as a 'fantasy action adventure' that is set in the future, in 2209 AD, to be precise. At one point, it was meant to be the most expensive project Sudeep's career but with time and other factors coming in, it would be interesting to see how much Anup's vision has evolved.
