Timing is everything in the entertainment industry. A popular actor once credited his success to being at the right place at the right time with the right people. The up-and-coming actor Rahul Vijay's career received a major boost with his portrayal of Aadhi, a delivery boy cum aspirant actor in aha's latest hit show Kudi Yedamaithe. It was the actor's long-cherished dream to collaborate with director Pawan Kumar and the actor made full use of the opportunity. However, would you believe that he wasn't the first choice to play the role?
A source from the show's team has told OTTplay that Raj Tarun was a major contender to play Aadhi and was almost finalised for Kudi Yedamaithe. With the dates for the show clashing with one of his film commitments, Raj Tarun had no choice but to back out and the role eventually went to Rahul Vijay. While there's no doubt that Rahul Vijay did justice to his role, the show may have reached a wider audience with a face like Raj Tarun. With the latter also facing a string of flops in recent years, a show that's as well written as Kudi Yedamaithe could've been a shot in the arm for Raj Tarun.
Kudi Yedamaithe starred Amala Paul, Ravi Prakash in pivotal roles too. Raj Tarun is currently awaiting the release of his rom-com Stand Up Rahul, a film directed by newcomer Santo where the actor pairs up with actor Varsha Bollamma for the first time. The actor also had a feature film release earlier this year, Powerplay, directed by Vijay Kumar Konda. His comedy entertainer Orey Bujjiga, also helmed by the same filmmaker, opted for a direct digital release on aha in 2020. The Uyyala Jampala lead's last major success was Eedo Rakam Aado Rakam in 2016, while Kittu Unnadu Jagratha managed to earn decent reviews.
