Exclusive! The successful combo, Jiiva and Rajesh, to team up for the third time

The duo had earlier joined hands for Siva Manasula Sakthi and Boss Engira Bhaskaran

There were speculation about Jiiva and director Rajesh teaming up for a project a few years ago. A while ago, it was heard that Santhanam will be the lead in the filmmaker's upcoming project. Now, there are unconfirmed reports doing the rounds that Jiiva is the protagonist in his next film.

Talking to OTTplay, he confirmed that the movie with Jiiva is on, and that more details on it can be divulged only later this month. He says, "I had a series of discussions with Jiiva sir. He had okayed the script and we are now on the lookout for a production house. If everything goes well, an announcement will be made later this month."

Rajesh adds that the film will be different from his previous outings in terms of the humour quotient. He says, "People expect humour in my movie, so there will be humour for sure. But we have decided to come up with a content-oriented film which doesn't rely only on humour." The details of other cast and crew will also be revealed later.

Rajesh's debut project, Siva Manasula Sakthi (streaming on MX Player), had Jiiva in the lead. The latter was seen in a cameo in the director's Boss Engira Bhaskaran (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar) as well. Both the movies went on to become superhits at the box office, thanks to the effective humour sequences.

Rajesh's previous outing Vanakkam Da Mappilei starring GV Prakash in the lead, had a premiere on Sun NXT earlier this year. Jiiva was last seen in the rom-com Kalathil Santhipom (streaming on Zee5) which hit the screens earlier this year. He has the multilingual biopic, 83, awaiting release soon. Methavi, in which he is paired opposite Raashi Khanna, is another movie he has in his kitty.
